After last being seen on screen in 2010, Shrek is finally making a comeback with Shrek 5. Dreamwork Animations has officially confirmed that Shrek 5 is in development with the original star, Mike Myers as the voice of Shrek taking up the role once again. Along with him, Cameron Diaz will be returning to the role of Fiona as well. Dreamwork Animations has confirmed that Shrek 5 has been slated for a release date of July 1, 2026.Dreamwork posted a tweet saying“Not too Far, Far Away… Shrek 5 is coming to theaters on July 1, 2026, with Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, and Cameron Diaz.”This release date is quite far away but considering that Shrek 5 is finally happening, I suppose it is going to be worth the wait.
What Is the Shrek 5 Cast
Shrek 5 will come out with most of the original Shrek cast. Mike Myers will return as the voice of Shrek along with Cameron Diaz as Fiona. The most beloved character of the franchise, Donkey will also be in the movie with his original voice given by Eddie Murphy. However, it is not confirmed if we will get to see Puss in Boots voiced by Antonio Banderas in the movie but I hope he does make an appearance. As of now, these are the only confirmed members of the cast for Shrek 5.
What Could Be the Shrek 5 Plot?
As of now, there are no details available about the plot of Shrek 5 since all the people working on this movie have been super secretive. In the last Shrek movie, we see that Shrek and Fiona have finally settled down and are done with their adventures. So, it looks like there could be the introduction of a new character as a villain because of whom, the gang might have to get back in action.
