Is the Jujutsu Kaisen Manga Ending Soon?

In the Q&A session, Gege Akutami revealed his plans for the future of the JJK manga. According to his latest comments, it appears like the “Shinjuku Showdown Arc” has been confirmed as thefinal arc/ saga of the Jujutsu Kaisen manga. This arc has been ongoing for more than 40 chapters, with the Jujutsu Sorcerers taking on the King of Curses. There have beensome major losseson the way too, but that’s expected of Akutami.Shinjuku showdown is the final arc in Jujutsu kaisen as confirmed by Gege Akutami.pic.twitter.com/9fbq9bZwpm— Anime News And Facts (@AniNewsAndFacts)July 10, 2024

If this report turns out to be true, there is a high chance that the Jujutsu Kaisen manga could end in 2024. However, the news comes from the fan translation of Gege’s comments from the Q&A session, so there’s a chance that we are misinterpreting the meaning of his words.

To give you a better understanding, here’s the exact question that was posed to Gege Akutami —“As you approached the turning point that is the Culling Game arc, did you roughly have a concept of what it would be like?”

As per the fan translation shared on X (formerly Twitter), Akutami responded by calling the Culling Game arc a crutch that helped steer the manga in the direction of the Shinjuku Showdown arc. This arc’s name is accompanied by some text in brackets (see X post below), and ittranslates to final section/saga.A.01: I thought of it as a crutch for taking us towards the Inhumane Makyo Shinjuku arc (final section/saga). The remainder of the response talks about how the Culling Game Arc took shape in discussion with Akutami’s editor. Though 60 chapters, the Culling Game Arc was simply a mess, a filler of sorts that was padded with a few important developments and fights to keep the reader engaged.

Circling back to the Shinjuku Showdown arc, this statement from Gege Akutami does not mean that your beloved manga is ending soon. There is a chance that Sukuna’s defeat may not mark the end of the series as there are a lot of loose ends that need tying up, along with theTengenmerger storyline that has been sidelined due to the ongoing fight against Sukuna. Moreover, with a lot of our favorite sorcerors losing their lives at the hands of Sukuna, fans like us had already realized that we were fast approaching the climax of the series.

As the end is nearing, I can’t help but mull over the ending of the Jujutsu Kaisen series. Whether the merger will happen or not? Will our beloved sorcerers defeat Sukuna and survive to see the end? Or, will Sukuna defeat everyone in his way? These questions are going to keep me restless until the story reaches its climax. That said, stay tuned for updates about the ending, and let us know your opinion on Gege’s plan for the Jujutsu Kaisen manga in the comments below.
