Dimensity 7300 Tested: Benchmarks and Specs
Nothing has launched a new budget phone under its CMF sub-brand, theCMF Phone 1. This phone is powered by the latest Dimensity 7300 chipset. On paper, it looks like a successor to theDimensity 7200 Pro, however, the reality is different. So to test the performance claims, here is our deep-dive into Dimensity 7300’s benchmark numbers. We have performed several tests including Geekbench, AnTuTu, 3DMark, and more.

Before we delve into the numbers game, go ahead and check out the specifications of MediaTek’s Dimensity 7300 chipset.Dimensity 7300Release DateMay 2024Process NodeTSMC 4nm (N4P)CPUOcta-core CPU4x 2.5GHz (Cortex-A78)4x 2.0GHz (Cortex-A55)GPUArm Mali-G615 MC2Full HD+ @144HzNPUMediaTek’s 6th-gen APU 655Camera SupportMediaTek Imagiq 950Up to 200MP photo capture4K HDR video captureConnectivityWi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.4ModemMediaTek 5G Modem, Dual 5G, VoNRPeak Download Speed 3.27 GbpsStorage / RAM SupportUFS 3.1LPDDR5/LPDDR4x, memory up to 6400MbpsNavIC SupportYesAV1 DecodeNo
Dimensity 7300: Geekbench 6 CPU
CMF Phone 1 is powered by the Dimensity 7300 chipset and it features eight CPU cores. The CPU cluster is pretty straightforward:4x Cortex-A78 coresclocked up to 2.5GHz, and4x Cortex-A55 coresclocked up to 2.0GHz.
While MediaTek has picked older ARM cores, the performance is surprisingly good for a mid-range chipset.
In Geekbench, Dimensity 7300 scores 1,018 in the single-core test and 2,920 in the multi-core test. The multi-core score is about20% higher than the Dimensity 7200 Proused on theNothing Phone 2a, whereas the single-core score is 10% lower. The decision to pack 4x Cortex-A78 cores has resulted in better performance in multi-threaded tasks.
Not to forget, Dimensity 7300 SoC is fabricated on TSMC’s 4nm process node so efficiency has likely improved. Overall, for a phone under Rs 20,000, the Dimensity 7300 SoC delivers respectable CPU performance.Geekbench CPU scoreDimensity 7300Single-core1,018Multi-core2,920
Dimensity 7300: AnTuTu Benchmark
Next, in the AnTuTu benchmark, Dimensity 7300 achieves a total score of 637,177. The CPU scores 183,575 and the GPU gets 145,772 points. In my opinion, the Dimensity 7300 somewhat disappoints here, likely because of the weak GPU. By the way, the UFS 3.1 storage gets a score of 78,386 in the AnTuTu storage test.Dimensity 7300AnTuTu Score637,177CPU183,575GPU145,772Memory144,038UX163,792
Dimensity 7300: CPU Throttling Test
In the CPU Throttling test which evaluates the sustained performance of the CPU, the Dimensity 7300 shines bright. It throttled to 94% of its maximum performance with almost no drop in a 15-minute intensive test. Nothing has most likely added an impressive cooling solution on the CMF Phone 1 which results in sustained CPU performance for a longer period.
Dimensity 7300: 3DMark Wild Life Stress Test
In the 3DMark Wild Life Stress test which evaluates the GPU prowess, the Mali-G615 MC2 GPU on the Dimensity 7300 delivers great stability. It gets the best loop score of 3,137 and the lowest loop score of 3,109. While the performance looks good on paper, in comparison to the older Dimensity 7200 Pro, it’s a downgrade.
Dimensity 7200 Pro’s GPU scored north of 4,000 points in the same test with similar stability. It’s evident that MediaTek has chosen a weaker GPU for the Dimensity 7300 chipset.
Dimensity 7300: AITuTu Benchmark
In the AITuTu benchmark, the MediaTek APU – AI Processing Unit – scores 99,445 points, close to 100k. MediaTek claims that the 6th-gen APU 655 on Dimensity 7300 is almost 2x faster than the one in Dimensity 7200 Pro.
Dimensity 7300: 5G Speed Test
Finally, we come to the 5G speed test. The Dimensity 7300 comes with an in-house 5G modem thatsupports dual 5G SIM connectivity and VoNR(Voice over New Radio). In our test on Jio’s 5G network, the CMF Phone 1 reached a peak download speed of 339 Mbps and a peak upload speed of 3.09 Mbps.
To sum up, the Dimensity 7300 is a good mid-range chipset by MediaTek, but I amnot impressed by the GPU performance. On the CPU side, despite featuring older cores, the CPU sustains good multi-threaded performance over a longer period. It’s left to be seen whether the older cores impact the battery life. Meanwhile, what do you think about the new Dimensity 7300 chipset? Let us know in the comments below.
